My hobbies revolve around my love for creating and my aversion to following patterns or rules. Since childhood, I have always had an independent outlook, knowing what I want in this life without disrespecting my parents or others.

It brings me joy and serves as a valuable tool for stress relief. Whenever life presents me with challenges and hurdles, I instinctively reach for my needles or hooks. My hands start moving as soon as I knit or crochet, and tranquility washes over me. My brain is relaxed, allowing me to think clearly and calmly without worrying or distractions. This creative activity has become my sanctuary, providing a haven where I can find solace and solutions to life’s problems.

This craft revolves around my love for creative expression and my aversion to strict patterns or rules. From a young age, I’ve had an independent outlook, knowing what I want in life while maintaining respect for others. One of my hobbies, GANSILYO (Tagalog for crochet), started when I helped my mother with a crochet project. Since then, crochet has been my primary focus, and I’ve crafted various items like table covers, blankets, and doilies.

While collecting pattern magazines, I often deviate from them to create my designs, reflecting my desire for personal creativity. Over the years, I’ve created numerous projects that have brought joy to my loved ones. In my early thirties, I expanded my skills by learning to knit. Although I initially focused on simpler projects like scarves and throw blankets, I continuously improved my techniques.

Knitting and crocheting brings me joy and is a powerful stress reliever. It allows me to find solace and mental clarity, offering a sanctuary to think without worries. However, I know the need to take care of my hands to avoid potential issues.

My husband has even compared me to Penelope from the Odyssey of Greek mythology, when deeply immersed in my craft, as I often undo and redo my projects to strive for perfection. While this habit may lead to discarded work, it’s an essential part of my creative process and a therapy for my mind. I want to ensure the final outcome matches my vision.

Once, my son suggested incorporating yarn into my paintings, an idea I’m considering and cherish deeply. This creative exploration excites me and allows me to merge my passions for painting and yarn. While I haven’t embarked on this journey yet, I hold my son’s request close to my heart. I am determined to explore this possibility in the future.

In summary, my hobbies encompass crochet and knitting, where I can express my creativity and challenge myself. They serve as a therapeutic outlet, offering mental relaxation and problem-solving. While I aim for perfection in my craft and may undo work frequently, it’s integral to my creative process. Additionally, incorporating yarn into my paintings has ignited a spark, and I’m eager to explore it further.
